Common Causes of a Persistent Toothache

• Pulpitis (Infected Pulp): This is the most common cause. Deep decay or trauma allows bacteria to infect the tooth's nerve, leading to inflammation and severe pain.
• Dental Abscess: An untreated infection can lead to a pocket of pus (an abscess) forming at the tip of the tooth's root, causing intense, radiating pain.
• Impacted Tooth: A tooth (often a wisdom tooth) that is stuck and unable to erupt properly can put pressure on nerves and other teeth, causing constant pain.
