Common Causes of Gum Pain

• Gingivitis: The earliest stage of gum disease, causing red, swollen, and tender gums that may bleed easily.
• Periodontitis: Advanced gum disease where the infection damages the bone, causing a deeper, more persistent ache.
• Dental Abscess: A pocket of pus from an infection that can cause severe, localized pain and swelling in the gums.
• Canker Sores (Aphthous Ulcers): Painful but harmless sores that can develop on the gum tissue.
• Brushing Trauma: Using a hard-bristled toothbrush or brushing too aggressively can injure your gum tissue.
